Cooking and blogging at the same time can be dangerous. I am new to this whole blogging thing. I am having so much fun with it that I sometimes get sidetracked by it. That is what happened one night when I was making my Fried Garlic Bread. I put the bread in the skillet, then went to check out something on my blog. Next thing I knew, smoke was filling my kitchen. I grabbed the skillet and moved it off the heat, but I was too late. The smoke alarm began to shriek and my dog Buddy began to bark. After opening the doors and windows and waving my arms like a crazy woman in front of the alarm, there was blessed silence.
As a young girl my mom had warned me about getting distracted in the kitchen. She was right once again. You can not only burn down your house, but you could really injure yourself with all the bright and shiny tools there.
If you have a kitchen mishap, I would love to hear them!
I ALWAYS burn things!! I get distracted SO easily so I get it!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I have too many mishaps to list but I keep cooking and blogging!
ReplyDeleteLong before blogging I had a deep fryer burst into flames when I lived in Zimbabwe and was on the farm. I managed to carry it out but burnt my hands quite badly. The kitchen was black but otherwise intact. The boss, who was a vet, said look what you have done to the kitchen, the fact that I had very blistered hands, which he could of treated was of no concern! I was not impressed!! Diane
ReplyDeleteIt's smart to listen to Mom! ;) Your bread looks good anyway!

Any tips for undercooked pasta? LOL!!! and could you post some family friendly things to cook like on facebook? the biscuit pizza was great for chyanne to do!
ReplyDeleteI have had way too many mishaps to share.
ReplyDeleteRuined 3 racks of spare ribs when I put a new thermometer in my Big Green Egg and didn't realize the one I bought had too long of a stem so it was touching cold meat giving false low readings. By the time I realized it, I had RUINED the ribs. Slow smoked, I think not.
ReplyDeleteStovetop popcorn. I burned it to the point of fire! Then I pulled the pot off the stove and set it right down on a laminate countertop. Which melted. In someone else's home. Yes. Embarassing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great comments!
ReplyDeleteKitchen Mishap: Once I tried melting chocolate with the double boiler technique - the glass bowl cracked. I loved my Food network mixing bowl and that made me upset the whole day.
