Clean Kitchen Tip

The sponge you use in the kitchen, is the most common place to find dangerous bacteria.  The combination of moister and food partials, make a perfect breeding ground for bacteria.  An easy way to disinfect the sponge, is to microwave the damp sponge for 1 minute.

Or place the sponge in the dishwasher and run it through the longest cycle setting.

On Friday, I will be posting my

  1. Yep, I do the dishwasher thing. I put my sponge in there every time I run it. Great tip!

  2. The dishwasher is where I store the sponge. It may shorten its life cycle somewhat but I think it is well worth it.

  3. Great idea! For my sink brush, I occasionally spray it down with bleachy cleanser and pop it in the dishwasher with the rest of the dishes.

  4. Think I may be wary of the microwave and I have no dish washer. I just wash it out well with a little bleach in the water. Diane

  11. I throw them away all the time, it drives my wife crazy but they creep me out. I prefer using scrub brushes, I feel like they are easier to keep sanitary.
