Tuesday's Tips & Tricks: Storing Peppers

I love to cook with peppers!  Bell pepper, green chile peppers, jalapeno peppers, I could go on and on but I won't.  Have you ever purchased a pepper from the store, only to have it spoil before you could use it.  I have!  It looked perfect on the outside, but there was mold around the stem on the inside.

To solve that problem, I now remove the stem and seeds when I bring them home from the store.  It saves me time, by having some of the prep work done ahead of time, and it saves me money by extending the storage life of my peppers.

Check back on Friday,

  1. Thanks for a great tip! Sometimes when I buy peppers by the bag I'll slice them up and freeze them, especially this time of year when the prices are down!

I'm looking forward to your Friday recipe!

Have a safe and Happy 4th of July!

  2. I often slice and freeze as well, even when I have a glut from the garden. Diane

  3. Mine usually don't last too long, I buy them at the farmers' market on Saturday and they're usually gone by Tuesday. But good tip just the same.
