Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Chicken Stroganoff

4 skinless, boneless, chicken breasts, cut into bite size pieces
1 (6 ounce) jar mushrooms, undrained
2 (10 3/4 ounce) cans cream of mushrooms
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream

Spray inside of slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.  In slow cooker, place chicken.  Pour mushrooms over chicken.  Spoon soup on top.  Cover. Cook on low 6 to 8 hours.  Add sour cream.  Salt and pepper to taste.  Mix well before serving.  Serve over noodles.  Makes 6 servings.

This is the busiest time of the year for us, and the slow cooker is a lifesaver for me!  I can put everything in the slow cooker, go about my day, then come home to a delicious meal.

We love this recipe.  It is comfort food make easy.  I cut up the chicken the night before, so in the morning it only takes a couple of minutes to put all of the ingredients in the slow cooker. The result is tender chicken in a creamy sauce with mushrooms through out.

A recipe is only a suggestion.  Personalize it by adding other ingredients.  I would love to hear how you would make this recipe your own?

  2. I threw away my ugly 33 year old crockpot when I moved from Seattle 4 months ago. I bought a bright shiny new red one when we arrived in Chicago. (yeah, Target) Now I am really into slow cooked meals again.

My favorite things so far has been a small roast, smothered in sliced sweet onions and a can of Vernors gingerale. I did it with a pork roast and later a beef roast. Delicious.(served on chunky bread)

This recipe looks great. I might add some frozen peas.

    Fondly,
    Glenda

  4. This recipe looks so good. Love the idea of only 4 ingredients. One of my favs for the crockpot is stuffing.. or onion soup or stew .. heck almost anything ....

Michele, my son gave me the slow cooker for Christmas several years ago. I love it because it is from him, but also because it has 3 different kinds of crocks that go into it.

  11. Wow, that's really simple! I'm a vegetarian, but entertain people who eat meat a lot. This would be a perfect dish to make in those situations.

Next time the only thing I would change would be to do a double batch. The entire family loved it. Thanks so much. 18. I was out of sour cream - and being on a kick of cooking out of my pantry and not running to the store every day - I improvised. I had a carton of green chili dip (green chilis in sour cream, basically) so I added that.

It was yummmm! Family ate it up - every last drop!
